Responsibilities
General Description:
- Ensures the integrity and security of all assigned production databases as well as the accuracy of information that will be generated from them. Performs maintenance activities, such as data purging, table updating, etc, to ensure optimum performance of the databases.
- Handles Change Request for any changes required on certain records of the databases; reviews regularly the server and application configuration viz a viz the databases for effective usage.
Overall Scope of work:
- Takes charge of the creation, maintenance and alteration of database objects to ensure smooth banking operation.
- Handles changes to the database records upon management authorization and approval via the Change Request procedures to ensure that only authorized changes are executed.
- Performs hardware capacity planning and performance tuning vis-a-vis database sizes to ensure optimum system response time. Conducts regular database maintenance and purging of records to see to it that proper balance between disk capacity and utilization is met.
- Secures Database objects to ensure that no authorize changes shall occur.
In coordination with Data Center, ensures that adequate back-ups are made to all production databases, especially when purging activities are conducted. Creates system back-ups, for application objects and Operating Systems, for all production systems. These backups will be used in the event of a disaster. - Conducts tests in all systems to be loaded to the production servers prior to loading to ensure data integrity.
- Coordinates with all concerned with respect to system related problems to ensure resolution thereof.
- Creates reports via Oracle, SQL or other programming languages from the production databases as may be requested to support business need.
- Prepares regular reporting for matter within the jurisdiction to support business and management mandates.
- Performs other duties which may be assigned from time to time where the incumbent’s expertise is involved.
